The FHHS team placed fourteenth overall in the tournament. Senior Sean Melson finished second place at 135 lbs. He finished his high school wrestling career with an impressive 31-5 season. Junior Sean O’Leary received second place at 112 lbs., with a season record of 35-10.
The FHC team placed third in Class 4 of the tournament. Senior Brandon Wilbourn capped off an outstanding career at FHC by winning the individual championship at 152 lbs. Brandon finished the season with a 50-1 Record. Junior Terrel Wilbourn capped off his season by winning his second consecutive state championship by winning the title at 130 lbs. Terrel's perfect 51-0 record made him the first wrestler in FHC history to finish a season undefeated. Finishing in second place was freshman John Wood at 119 lbs. John finished the season with a record of 50-3. Other State medalists for the Spartans were: Andrew Buffa, 4th at 160 lbs.; Ben Henson 5th at 125 lbs.; and Justin Dickey 5th at 145 lbs.
FHN finished thirteenth in the tournament and came home with three state medals. Senior Jeff Shell won three straight matches before losing a 5-3 decision in the finals for a second place finish at 152 lbs. Jeff finished the season with a 25-6 record. Junior Harold Ritchie finished his season with a 49-5 record and a fourth place finish at 135 lbs. His 49 wins set a new school record for wins in a season. The previous record was 41. Jason Shell had a tough loss in the second round, but came back to finish in sixth place at 135 lbs. Jason ended his season with a record of 46-8. Tyler Smith and Brenton Harms each had one win but were eliminated before the medal rounds.
