The Howell of Fame Award recognizes excellence of character, performance and service of those who serve the Francis Howell School District as employees, volunteers and patrons.

Eligibility

Persons eligible for the Howell of Fame Award include:

·         teachers, librarians and guidance counselors

·         administrators, school nurses, teacher assistants and non-teaching professional staff

·         support personnel, such as transportation, food service, maintenance, custodial and secretarial employees

·         lay persons such as volunteers, members of parent groups and individual residents who have made a significant contribution to the district

Procedure for completing nominations

Any current or former employee or resident of the Francis Howell School District is eligible to nominate a person from any of the four categories listed above. 

·    Nominations from current students are not admissible.

·    Only individual nominees.  (No groups) 

·    Former winners of the Howell of Fame Award will not be considered.   

Nominations are made by completing the Nomination Form. 

The selection of the winner is based solely on the information received on the form, thus, care should be taken to describe the nominees’ contributions to the students of Francis Howell that go above and beyond their assigned work.

·    Unsigned nominations will not be considered.

The Nomination Form may be found on the Francis Howell School District web-site. Please complete the Nomination Form and “click” the send button or you may complete a Nomination Form located in your school office and send it in a sealed envelope through the Francis Howell inter-office mail or U.S. mail to: Howell of Fame Awards Committee, Attention: Mary Jo Griffin, Francis Howell School District, 4545 Central School Road, St. Charles, MO  63304-7113.  All nominations must be received in Mary Jo Griffin’s office by 4:00 PM on Tuesday-April 13, 2010.

Judging

The selection committee is composed of a minimum of one representative from each district building. 

·    The building representative(s) will be the Howell of Fame winner(s) from the two previous years.  If there is not a current Howell of Fame winner the building representative will be a previous Howell of Fame winner from that building or a representative appointed by the Principal.

Number of awards given

The number of awards is tentatively set at ten per year.  The number may be changed to provide the flexibility needed to make the best choices.

Announcement of nominations & final selection of winners

All nominees will receive notification that they are being considered for a Howell of Fame Award.  The selection committee will notify the winners prior to the recognition celebration in May.

Presentation of awards

The 2010 Howell of Fame Awards will be presented at a Reception and Program on May 3rd, 2010. This gala evening will be an appropriate honor for those who have served Francis Howell so well.
