When will a MoCHIP event be held in my area?
- Becky-David Elementary, 1155 Jungs Station Road in St. Charles
Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
What does MoCHIP include?
MoCHIP consists of five major components – digital photographs, digital fingerprints, vital child information and emergency contacts, a dental bite impression, and two laminated ID cards. The photographs, fingerprints, and child data are burned onto a mini-CD that is compatible with the Amber Alert. All information is provided to parents on a computer disc; microchips are not used in the program.
What does the program retain?
The program does not retain any personal information concerning children. The only thing retained is the permission slip signed by the parent or legal guardian; all other materials and information sheets are given to the parent or legal guardian. At the end of the event all data collected is erased from the computers using a secure erasure program.
Who can participate?
Any child or young adult, from newborns to age twenty-one, is welcome to participate in a MoCHIP event; however, parents or legal guardians are the only people that can register a child with MoCHIP. This is a safety precaution that Missouri Masonic Children’s Foundation has to take.
How often should MoCHIP be done?
It is recommended to repeat every year for children under the age of three and every two years for older children years because their physical attributes will have changed.
Make sure you are prepared!
Parents are urged to gather pertinent information about their child prior to the event such as, doctor, dentist, and emergency contact name, address and phone numbers, distinguishing marks and scars, allergies, medications, and parent work, cell, and assorted phone numbers.
