Daniel Boone “Walks In Someone Else’s Shoes”

Walk in someone else’s shoes was the theme for Daniel Boone Elementary’s Ability Awareness Week which took place September 19 – 29. During the two weeks teachers taught lessons for each grade level highlighting five main impairment areas which included hearing, social emotional, physical/mobility, vision and learning disabilities.  more

Post-Secondary Transitions for Special Education Students

FHSD Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) will share information on post-secondary education, career preparation, employment, and leisure opportunities for students with disabilities on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. This meeting will also include information on accessing adult service agencies and a question answer session. The meeting will be in the Board Room of the Administration building, located at 4545 Central School Road.  more
Safety First During National School Bus Safety Week

Each year, Francis Howell School District joins districts across the country to educate the public, students and parents about the importance of school bus safety during National School Bus Safety week, which will be observed October 17-21, 2011. During bus safety week and throughout the FHSD school year, kindergarten through fifth-grade students are taught to be mindful of bus safety with the Safety Bee.  more

Francis Howell School District (FHSD) teachers, Amy Howell and Laticia Garbarini join a select group of St. Louis area teachers chosen to receive the Emerson Electric Company Excellence in Teaching Award. This award recognizes teachers for their passion for teaching, their impact on student learning, and their knowledge and creativity in the classroom. The recipients are chosen for their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession and to the students they teach.   more

Fifth Annual Bi-National Health Fair

In an effort to promote good health awareness and to encourage healthy lifestyles the Tri-County area of Lincoln, Warren and St. Charles counties will be hosting its Fifth Annual Bi-National Health Fair for the Hispanic Community Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fair will be held at Harvester Christian Church located at 2950 Kings Crossing, St. Charles, Mo 63303.  more

“A Day Made Better” with a Surprise for Two FHSD Teachers

On Tuesday, October 4, Debbie DiCarlo, a third grade teacher at Henderson Elementary, and Suzan Wilson, a communication arts teacher at Saeger Middle School, were surprised by Adopt-A-Classroom and OfficeMax with a package of $1,000 worth of classroom resources and supplies on behalf of the nationwide event titled “A Day Made Better.” Ms. DiCarlo and Ms. Wilson were surprised by a team of OfficeMax representatives and their principals, who delivered the supplies to their classrooms.   more

Francis Howell Receives Early Childhood Education Award

The Francis Howell R-III School District is the recipient of the Early Childhood Education Program of the Year award from FutureBuilders, the educational foundation of the Missouri School Boards’ Association. The award was presented at the 2011 MSBA Annual Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks on October 1.  more
Saeger Middle School Teacher Named as Top Ten Finalist in St. Louis Essay Contest

Matthew Van Horn, SEGA teacher at Saeger Middle School, was recently announced as a top ten finalist in the Fabulous Fox Theater of St. Louis essay contest in conjunction with The Addams Family Broadway Musical. As a finalist, Mr. Van Horn was invited to attend the opening night of the musical at the Fox Theater in St. Louis on Wednesday, September 28. The producers of the musical comedy, “THE ADDAMS FAMILY” have created the program “No Snap Judgments”, whose ultimate goal is to promote social awareness in our communities, our schools, and in our workplaces.  more

FHSD Joins Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® 2011

Francis Howell School District’s (FHSD) Early Childhood and Vacation Station programs celebrated Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a national campaign designed to bring attention to the importance of early education and literacy, on Thursday, October 6, 2011. Each year, the campaign sets a world record for the largest shared reading experience, with the greatest number of people reading the same book on the same day.  more
FHSD Board Approves Rapid Notification System

We will be implementing the new communication system, called SchoolMessenger in late November.
