The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is proud
to announce that it has been selected as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top
Workplaces for the fourth consecutive year. FHSD ranked in the Top
Workplace large business category, which is comprised
of similarly-sized organizations. FHSD also
received special recognition by being awarded the Meaningfulness Award,
indicating FHSD employees feel their work makes them
part of something meaningful.
“Francis Howell is full of very
talented and caring people. Our staff works hard every day to provide the best
educational experiences for the children of our community,” said Superintendent
Dr. Pam Sloan. “It is because of the intentional work and efforts done on the
part of our students, staff, and community that we are one of the highest
performing districts in the state, and again one of the Top Workplaces in St.
All FHSD employees had the opportunity
to take the confidential workplace survey earlier this spring, which focused on
organizational health and employee engagement. Nearly 1,500 responses were received
over a three-week period from approximately 2,300 FHSD employees, which
accounts for a 63 percent response rate.
“The Top Workplaces award is not a
popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks
and benefits,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. “But to be a Top
Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational
health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture
every day—the employees.”
This year, 177
companies, nonprofit groups, and government agencies agreed to participate in
the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Work Places confidential
survey, conducted by Workplace Dynamics, LLC. The participants were
from organizations that employ more than 65,000 people in the Greater St.
Louis area; more than 38,000 responded to the confidential survey.
