Francis Howell Central High School (FHC) can add one more outstanding student to its list of successful 2016 graduates. Haley Clark is one of only five recipients in the country to receive the 2016 National Vision Inc. College Scholarship. The award will provide her with $2,500 to use for her education at Rockhurst University, where she is majoring in microbiology.

FHC guidance counselor Wendy Ahearn said she is proud of Clark and describes her as a great and determined student. “Haley was a confident student and was very involved,” Ahearn said. “She loved science and took seven classes at FHC.”

National Vision Inc., is one of the country’s largest optical retailers. The awards are determined based on applicants’ past academic performance, future potential and leadership participation within their school and community. The scholarship program is open to students whose parents are employed by National Vision. Clark’s father, Gregg Robinson, is an employee of the National Vision Retail Support Center (RSC).

Clark certainly showed that she is highly deserving of this award, and she stayed very busy during her time at FHC. She was the vice president of the Student Council, a member of the National Honor Society, the Chemistry Club, Youth in Government, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. If this wasn’t already enough, she was also a nationally competitive figure skater, according to Ahearn.

FHSD says congratulations to Clark and wishes her all the best in her future scientific endeavors.
