On Thursday, May 23, Independence Elementary officially received their National School of Character (NSOC) banner from the National School of Character Council. The entire school had the opportunity to view the banner during a school assembly. Independence received NSOC recognition in May 2013, for their commitment to character education and for fostering a positive environment for social and academic learning.

Filled with excitement and anticipation, the entire Warren Elementary student body and staff gathered for a school-wide assembly to hear exciting news on Friday, May 17, 2013. Mary Corbitt, kindergarten teacher, was announced as the recipient of the 2013 Excellence In Education Teacher of the Year Award given by Mid Rivers Newsmagazine. Corbitt was selected from a pool of 1,000 applicants.

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) Board of Education has announced Dr. Anthony Haan as the new principal for the FHSD Heritage Landing Alternative Program for the 2013-14 school year. Haan replaces current Heritage Landing principal, Jennifer Bracken. Haan will begin his new role July 1.
