Community EdThe Francis Howell School District launched a Community Education Program with the purpose of enriching the lives of FHSD citizens by providing quality, affordable educational opportunities and activities for the adults in our community.

The Community Education Program is paid for by participant registration fees.

2017 Fall Community Education Classes


Piloxing 
Aug. 29, 31/ Sept. 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28/ Oct. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19

$42.50 per participant
PILOXING® is a non-stop cardio fusion of standing Pilates, boxing, and dance that will push you past your limits! It incorporates cutting edge research and fitness techniques to burn maximum calories, build lean muscle, and increase stamina. The 60 minute program uniquely blends the power, speed, and agility of boxing with the targeted sculpting and flexibility of Pilates. This is a barefoot class (flexible soled cross training shoes optional).  These techniques are also supplemented by the use of weighted gloves (optional), further toning the arms and maximizing cardiovascular health. Add to that fun dance moves and you have a muscle- toning, fat-burning workout that will make you feel physically and mentally empowered!


Spanish 101
Sept. 26/ Oct. 3, 10, 24, 31/ Nov. 7, 14, 21, 28/ Dec. 12

Spanish 101 will go over the basics of the Spanish language, but focus on basic conversation and communication. Particular emphasis will be on the language skills of writing, reading, listening, and speaking.


Basic Genealogy
Sept. 13, 20, 27/ Oct. 11
6:00 - 8:30 PM
$40 per participant

Want to know more about your family's history, but don’t know where to begin? The Francis Howell School District Community Education Program’s Basic Genealogy class will start with the basics of where to look and how to organize records that will make the journey easier and a lot more fun. And if you've been working on your genealogy and hitting some brick walls, this short course will help you break down those walls. Don't wait till it’s too late, as it’s never too soon to start!
