SEGA Elementary (2-5)

The SEGA program is open to any student entering second through fifth grade who meets the qualifications for the program. The SEGA program utilizes a centralized model, which is housed in one of the district’s elementary schools. The program provides a full time, self-contained classroom at the elementary level. The students attend the program every day for all core academic areas. They attend lunch, recess, and special area (art, music, PE) classes with their grade level peers. SEGA students may advance through curriculum from second to sixth grades based on their abilities and needs.

Students will be taught the FHSD curriculum for their grade level through curriculum compacting, allowing time for students to explore the curricular concepts in more depth and complexity. SEGA instructors will also help students develop their social and emotional skills. A counselor will visit the SEGA classroom on a regular basis, which is similar to visits made by counselors in the grade level classrooms. SEGA students will continue to attend Spectra as part of their curricula.
