Dr. Renée Schuster joined the Francis Howell School District as its
Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2006. Dr Schuster brings over 25
years of experience in education to FHSD, having served for three years
as the executive director of student services for the Ladue School
District immediately prior to coming to Francis Howell. She began her
educational career in 1979 as a speech-language pathologist with the
Fulton Public Schools and served the students of FHSD at Becky-David
Elementary for five years as a language resource teacher and
speech-language pathologist. Dr. Schuster’s administrative experience
began with the Hazelwood School District where she served in many
leadership capacities including principal, district-wide coordinator,
and director of research and development.
Dr. Schuster’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Education
and a Master of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia; a
Specialist Degree in Education Administration from Southern Illinois
University at Edwardsville; and a Doctorate of Education from Saint
Louis University. Her research has concentrated on improving learning
for all students through professional development and essential
collaboration of faculty and staff members. She has also conducted
research on early childhood education and strategies to close the
achievement gap.
Dr. Schuster’s primary goal and central focus for FHSD is to provide
strategic leadership that focuses on student learning, safe and caring
learning communities, and the pursuit of excellent through continuous
improvement. She brings to FHSD, expertise in the areas of communication
arts curriculum and instruction; Balanced Literacy; Reading Recovery;
special education; gifted education; English for Speakers of Other
Languages; early childhood education, parent education; grant writing;
health services management; leadership development; and professional
learning communities. She is committed to leading the implementation of
the District’s five-year strategic plan and the attainment of the
District vision:
