Frequently Asked Questions during Hiring Season Q: What Factors are
considered before hiring?
A: Francis Howell considers several pieces of information before
offering an applicant a position. Information includes: background
experiences, education, references, clearance of criminal background
check, university credentials and/or training, and responses to the
interview and online survey information.
Q: I have all of my paperwork and information into the District. Why have
I not been called for an interview?
A: Francis Howell School District receives around 1,000 applications
a year for certified and non-certified positions. The application pool
is very competitive and the District is looking for the most talented
and highly qualified applicant to fill every position.
Q: Did the principals receive my paperwork?
A: Principals receive credential packets on candidates who are
qualified for the position and may request additional candidate
information. Principals seek highly qualified applicants and recommend
the most talented one that meets the building needs in this competitive
market.
Q: Will I find out how I did on the Gallup Online Survey?
A: Everyone who applies to the school district is considered for a
position. The Gallup Online Survey is one piece of information we use to
help us know our candidates better. The survey information in not
released to candidates and is only one tool used in the recruitment
process.
Q: Would it be beneficial for me to go to the buildings to introduce
myself?
A: In fairness to the building administrators and applicants, you
should not visit the building without prior approval. Unscheduled visits
disrupt the business of our schools which is student learning. Human
Resources can assist you with any questions you may have.
Q: If I work as a substitute teacher or paraprofessional, will I be
considered for a teaching position before other applicants?
A: While substitute teaching and paraprofessional experiences offer
you an opportunity to become more acquainted with the district schools
and building administrators, it does not guarantee you will be hired for
a teaching position. We do consider Francis Howell employment as one
factor in our application process. Francis Howell is a very competitive
District to work in and we seek the most talented individuals to fill
each and every position.
Q: Do I need to resubmit my paperwork every time a new position becomes
available?
A: No, all you need to do is inform the Applicant Tracking Assistant
of your interest in the new position.
