Facilities Naming Survey

In March 2016, the Board of Education received a request to name a District facility in memory of Rick Pavia. Mr. Pavia was a true Howell person. He attended FHSD kindergarten through high school graduation, served as a Francis Howell Board member and, except for a short period of time, spent all of his working career with Francis Howell. Rick died unexpectedly in April 2015. In accordance with Regulation 7100, the Board considered and approved the formation of a Facility Naming Committee at its May 19, 2016, Board meeting.

The Committee met in December 2016, and determined to bring forward a recommendation to the Board to name one of three properties/facilities in Rick’s memory: The Facilities and Operations Building, the Howell High School football field, or the new gymnasium at Howell High School. The Committee is now seeking public input on its recommendation. Community members are invited to complete a short survey to express their support or disapproval of the request, and will be given an opportunity to rank order the proposed recommendations and provide comments. The survey, along with copies of the original request and supporting recommendation letters, are posted on the District’s web site.
