The arts are an important part of education for so many reasons, and they enrich our lives in many ways. A program has been implemented by a theater group in St. Louis that enables area youth with physical, cognitive, and/or developmental delays to participate in musical theater arts, inspiring the Francis Howell Central (FHC) High School Drama Club to get involved. Saeger Middle School recently held their annual Spartan Winter Warm-Up, collecting new and gently used coats, gloves, hats, and scarves. Every month during the school year, the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) Board of Education welcomes one of the District’s best and brightest to represent the student body on the dais during their meeting. In December, Francis Howell Union (FHU) High School sent senior Marquez Riceto be the honorary Board member for the evening. Kerber, Eck, & Braeckel, certified public accountants, presented the District's audit report on financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2016, to the Board of Education at its Dec. 15 meeting. The vision statement of Central Elementary emphasizes that the school is a place where everyone is always valued and included. Ever year during the holiday season, Central’s community comes together to bring that vision to life with the annual Adopt-a-Family program. There are only about a thousand students in the United States every year who achieve perfection when taking the ACT test. David Yang from Francis Howell High School (FHHS), and Kayleigh Ammond from Francis Howell Central (FHC), are part of that 0.06% of almost two million students who did what many think is impossible: they received a perfect 36 on the ACT.  more about Two FHSD Students Shine with Perfect ACT Scores

The Holidays are here, and it’s the time of year to be thankful. The students at Francis Howell Union (FHU) are dedicating their time to giving back, in addition to giving thanks. Together with the organization “Kids Against Hunger,” FHU students participated in a food packing event on Tuesday, Nov. 22. It’s that time of year to be thankful, but it’s also that time of year for something else – toy shopping. But not everyone has the resources to get their child the latest and greatest toys on the market. The United States Marine Corps began the Toys for Tots program in 1995 to foster a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters.
