Bus Radio
This school year, the Francis Howell School District
(FHSD) will be utilizing a new technology, BusRadio. This technology
comes at no cost to the FHSD, and was installed for this school year in
buses serving Francis Howell students.
BusRadio provides age-appropriate programming and
entertainment combined with safety messages and educational commentary.
A limited amount of advertising by national companies is included, which
totals about seven minutes within a one-hour program. The playing of the
daily radio program is optional. Parents can hear songs and review
content being played on BusRadio at :
http://www.busradioparents.com/.
The BusRadio equipment includes these important
components:
• Panic button to connect the driver with the proper
authorities in an emergency
• Public address system that the bus driver can use for
announcements to students
• Daily safety announcements
• Custom program features for educational field trips
“Our goal is to provide safe, reliable and efficient
transportation services to the students of the Francis Howell School
District,” says Mike Sloan, director of purchased services and
enrollment planning. “We hope that BusRadio will promote a safe and
positive climate on buses by helping to keep students seated,
well-behaved, and engaged.”
Working together with First Student, Inc. (formerly
Laidlaw), Francis Howell transports more than 14,000 students each day,
traveling 2.5 million miles every year.
