Firecrackers Program
Rational/Goals
Rationale:
This program will allows children under the age of six to have
extension activities that will develop critical and creative thinking.
Entrance into the Spectra program does not begin until children are 6
years of age. Testing and observation during Firecrackers determines
which of those students are appropriate for referral to the Spectra
Program.
Goals:
• Provide children with enrichment activities that challenge
their intellect and creativity.
• Assist kindergarten teachers in recognizing and providing for high
ability learners in the classroom.
• Identify children at an earlier age as possible candidates for the
Spectra program.
• Assess children at an earlier age to provide appropriate
differentiated instruction.
