The curriculum assures mastery of the basic knowledge and skills
contained in the regular school curriculum. Additionally, the program
provides for an accelerated curriculum based on the following
guidelines:
1. The exceptionally gifted learner will experience the SEGA
curriculum through the process of acceleration and enrichment of the
Francis Howell School District Curriculum.
2. The exceptionally gifted learner will experience the SEGA
curriculum as challenging and motivating through curriculum
compacting.
3. The exceptionally gifted learner will utilize higher level
thinking skills throughout the SEGA curriculum.
4. The exceptionally gifted learner will show progress toward
becoming a self-directed learner.
5. The exceptionally gifted learner will be exposed to
chronological and intellectual peers in order to develop
age-appropriate social skills enabling a more positive self-concept.
6. The exceptionally gifted learner will benefit from placement in
classes within the regular Francis Howell School District curriculum
appropriate to his or her individual needs.
