FHSD Communication Department holds MOSPRA awards

The Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) Communications Awards Program annually provides members the opportunity to have their work evaluated by PR professionals and measured against industry standards. For the 2018 MOSPRA Communications Awards Program, FHSD was recognized with four different awards. This is additional confirmation that the District works diligently to provide the best possible communications for students, staff, parents, and the larger community.

“I’m very proud of the great professionals in our communications department,” said FHSD Chief Communications and Community Relations Officer Matt Deichmann. “They bring a variety of experience and skills to their jobs and work hard every day to share important information with our internal and external stakeholders. It’s always a team effort, and these awards from our state organization are an additional confirmation of the quality of the content created by our communications team for the benefit of our school community.”

In the Video category, FHSD’s “Charlie the JWE Therapy Dog” scored 100% and was presented with the Award of Excellence. The judges said “Outstanding, and the perfect approach for the audience.”

The District’s websites received an Award of Merit for their layout, content, and navigation. Judges’ comments included “The site is well organized and information is easy to find,” and “Maintaining current, easily accessible information for 18 schools is a challenge. Congratulations on a successful website!”

In the Golden Achievement category, the District’s Future Focused strategic planning process and communications received an Award of Commendation for an “excellent and thorough plan” with “strong community engagement.”

The First Annual FHSD PLTW Showcase story won an Award of Commendation in the writing category. Reviews included “There is great information about the type of projects presented at the showcase,” and “The article clearly shows the connection between PLTW and the district's strategic plan.”

MOSPRA President Paul Tandy said, “The MOSPRA Communications Awards Program not only recognizes exemplary school public relations programs but also provides valuable feedback from public relations professionals to help our members continue to improve their work. Congratulations to this year's honorees on this well-deserved recognition.”
