 | FHSD Facilities/Bond Issue Posted on 09/30/2019 During 2018, FHSD worked proactively with the architectural firm Hoener Associates, Inc. to develop a Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP). This plan identified both the current state of the District’s facilities as well as its future needs. The FHSD Board of Education is considering placing a no tax rate increase bond issue on the ballot in April to pay for the construction, repair, and renovation costs outlined in the CFMP.

 | Three FHSD Schools Honored as 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools Posted on 09/26/2019 The U.S. Department of Education has recognized Becky-David Elementary, Daniel Boone Elementary, and Warren Elementary as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2019. The three Francis Howell elementary schools received the prestigious award based on their exemplary high academic performance. Only five other elementary schools in Missouri received the award this year.

 | FHSD Board Sets Tax Rate Posted on 09/20/2019 The FHSD Board of Education approved the 2019-20 tax rate of $4.6480 by a 7-0 vote at the September Board meeting. Although the District's assessed valuation (AV) increased 9% overall, the District is limited to capturing growth on existing property to the lower of 5% or the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI for 2019 is calculated to be 1.9%.

 | Harvest Ridge Elementary Receives $25,000 STEM Grant Posted on 09/20/2019 Harvest Ridge Elementary has been selected to receive a $25,000 grant from America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Bayer Fund. The grant is intended to increase engagement, accessibility, and achievement with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

 | A Good Book Is Like Fettuccine with the Alfredo Posted on 09/18/2019 On Friday, Sept. 13, a crowd of Henderson fifth graders sat down at tables with red and white checkered tablecloths as they scanned through a menu full of delicious brain food. A server soon arrived at each of their tables with a platter of books. “Be careful now, the plates are very hot,” exclaimed the waitress. As part of a student “book tasting,” Henderson Elementary transformed their library into a restaurant for the day. However, instead of serving delicious plates of pasta, salads, and soup, they served daily specials of non-fiction, mystery, and fantasy.

 | FHSD Hosts First Districtwide College Fair Posted on 09/18/2019 In collaboration with the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC), FHSD held its first districtwide College Fair on Sept. 18. High school juniors from across the District were transported to Francis Howell Central and given the opportunity to speak with representatives from over 100 universities, community colleges, trade schools, and military recruiters from across the nation.

 | FHSD Celebrates Information Technology Professionals Day Posted on 09/17/2019 Information Technology (IT) professionals provide essential support to keep FHSD up and running. They ensure all of the District’s desktops, laptops, mobile devices, applications, servers, networks, and databases work and work well together. The Technology Department equips teachers, students, and administrators with digital resources to enhance delivery and improve instruction. They also teach students how to use technology to enhance their personal and family life. To help say thanks, FHSD observes IT Professionals Day on Sept. 17.

 | FHMS Recognized by Johns Hopkins for Community Engagement Posted on 09/13/2019 Francis Howell Middle School has earned a 2019 Partnership School Award from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University. FHMS was recognized for making excellent progress in strengthening and sustaining a comprehensive program of school, family, and community partnerships. This is the fourth NNPS Partnership School Award for FHMS, a notable accomplishment and good indication of the school’s commitment to continually improving its program of family and community engagement.

 | Five FHSD Seniors Selected as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Posted on 09/12/2019 The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that five FHSD students have been named Semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. These seniors are among 16,000 Semifinalists chosen as part of the annual academic competition. The Semifinalists, who were selected based on scores on a PSAT qualifying test, will compete for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million, to be awarded in the spring.  | AP Scholars 2019 Posted on 08/27/2019 FHSD is proud to announce that 333 students, the most in District history, have been named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars for 2018-19. The AP program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through AP courses and exams with the prestigious AP Scholar Awards.
