From this page, parents and students are able to access instructional resources to use during the current school closure. After delivering 3/4 of the school year in a traditional setting, content experts and teachers have been hard at work preparing instructional materials that are relevant and meaningful for students to continue their learning.

 | FHSD Playgrounds and Outdoor Facilities Closed Posted on 03/30/2020 FHSD has closed all outdoor school facilities during the extended school closure. This means all playgrounds, tracks, fields, and basketball and tennis courts are off-limits. This decision was made in accordance with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and public health officials.

 | FHSD Offers Meal Assistance during COVID-19 Closure Posted on 03/29/2020 All FHSD schools are closed through April 24, to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This extended closure makes it hard when many households rely on school meals provided to feed their children throughout the day. That is why FHSD is working in collaboration with Sodexo and the community to ensure all families in need have food during this unprecedented time.

 | All FHSD Schools Now Closed Through April 24 Posted on 03/25/2020 In collaboration with the St. Charles County Department of Public Health, Francis Howell and all St. Charles County school districts made the decision to continue our school closure through Friday, April 24, to do our part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The superintendents will remain in close contact with health officials and will reconvene before that date to reassess the situation. This extended closure includes all FHSD schools, preschool, and Vacation Station. During the closure, all athletic and activity events are canceled. FHSD facilities will also be unavailable for community use.

 | Proposition S Election Postponed Until June 2 Posted on 03/24/2020 In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Mike Parson has signed Executive Order 20-03, ordering all Missouri municipal elections previously scheduled on April 7 to be postponed until June 2. In compliance with the Executive Order, Proposition S will now appear on the June 2, 2020, ballot.

 | All FHSD Schools Closed Through April 3 Posted on 03/15/2020 We have been working in collaboration with the St. Charles County Health Department and St. Charles County Government regarding the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19). After a meeting this evening, we have decided to close all FHSD schools, preschool, and Vacation Station through April 3, 2020, with classes set to resume April 6. The closure is effective starting March 16. All extracurricular activities and outside organization events are also canceled until further notice.

 | FHSD High School Students Attend Construction Industry Trades Expo Posted on 03/14/2020 On Feb. 28, high school students from across the District recently attended the annual Construction Industry Trades Expo hosted by The Larry Elms Carpenters Training Center and sponsored by the Carpenters' Joint Apprenticeship Program. The goal of the expo is to provide high school juniors and seniors with an opportunity to learn more about the various trade industries and how they can pursue a career in construction.

 | FHSD Belcher Scholarship Nominees Posted on 03/13/2020 The Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) celebrates the successes of our public schools and recognizes the achievements of both students and school leaders. The school board of each MSBA member district is eligible to nominate one outstanding high school senior to apply for the John T. Belcher Scholarship. The local board of education selects an applicant based on academic achievement and leadership abilities.

 | Local School Districts to Host Trade Careers Expo Posted on 03/10/2020 Francis Howell School District, in partnership with school districts from Lincoln, Warren, and St. Charles Counties, will host the Tri-County Trades Expo on April 9, 2020, from 5:30 until 7:30 PM at Saeger Middle School. The Expo is an informational event that encourages sixth- through twelfth-grade students and their parents to learn more about opportunities and careers in the trades.

 | School District Bond Issues Posted on 03/09/2020 When school districts in Missouri and around the country need to make large capital expenditures like building new facilities or making major repairs, they have to borrow money. Bonds are the way that school districts, fire districts, ambulance districts, etc. borrow that money. When voters approve a bond issue, the district obtains bids and sells bonds to the purchaser who offers the lowest interest rate (and current rates are very low). The funds are then used to complete capital projects, and the debt is paid back over time.

 | Harvest Ridge Teacher Dione Anderson Selected as District Teacher of the Year Posted on 03/05/2020 The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that Dione Anderson, a reading teacher at Harvest Ridge Elementary School, has been selected as the 2020 FHSD Teacher of the Year. She is a product of the District and says her desire to become a teacher dates back to her days in Mrs. Miller’s second grade class at Becky-David Elementary. “I felt loved and accepted in her class, and my love of reading flourished,” says Anderson. “I remember thinking that I wanted to be in school for the rest of my life. Many inspiring teachers followed her, strengthening my resolve to teach.”

 | FHN Senior Named the 2020 JEA Student Journalist of the Year for Missouri Posted on 03/05/2020 As a freshman at FHN, Emily Hood was very shy and timid but had an eager interest in learning anything and everything she could. That passion for education led her to a passion for journalism. Now, four years later, Hood is a confident and well-spoken executive producer of FHNtoday’s video team. This February, she was named the 2020 Journalism Education Association (JEA) Student Journalist of the Year for Missouri.

 | Janet Stiglich Achieves Advanced Board Certification Posted on 03/03/2020 FHSD Board of Education Director Janet Stiglich has been recognized for achieving Advanced Certification in the Missouri School Boards’ Association Certified Board Member program. She joins Mary Lange, who received her Advanced Certification in April 2019, and Chad Lange, who received his Advanced Certification in November 2016 and Master Certification in April 2019.

 | FHN Publications to Host Board Candidate Forum Posted on 03/02/2020 On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, the Francis Howell North High School student journalism program, FHN Publications, will be hosting a Board of Education Candidate Forum. The event will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the FHN Auditorium, located at 2549 Hackmann Road in St. Charles. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

 | Proposition S – New Francis Howell North High School Posted on 03/02/2020 The Francis Howell Board of Education has voted to put Proposition S, a no tax rate increase bond issue, on the April ballot. The largest single project funded by the passage of Proposition S would be a new Francis Howell North High School, at a cost of approximately $86 million.

 | FHSD Students Bolster their Brainpower with School Breakfast Posted on 03/01/2020 A healthy school breakfast sets students up for a day of learning and academic success. However, according to the Food Research and Action Council, only half of the children who eat lunch at school also eat school breakfast. In an effort to increase awareness of the School Breakfast Program, FHSD is celebrating National School Breakfast Week, March 2-6, 2020.
