Community EdThe Francis Howell School District Community Education Program is designed with the purpose of enriching the lives of FHSD citizens by providing quality, affordable educational opportunities and activities for the adults in our community.

The Community Education Program is paid for by participant registration fees.

Country Heat Dance Class

Step right into this easy-to-follow, completely exhilarating, country dance-inspired workout! No complicated moves. No memorizing routines. Just simply follow along to enjoy the low-impact, high-energy dance class set to the hottest country hits. You’ll have so much fun moving, stepping, clapping, stomping, and laughing, you’ll forget you’re burning mega calories and toning your body from head to toe!

Stop the Bleed

Did you know that uncontrolled bleeding from any cause could result in death in as little as five minutes? Learn basic techniques to control bleeding using hands, dressings, and tourniquets. This comprehensive life-saving training is FREE of charge, but registration is required. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Understanding Medicare

Medicare is a federal system of health insurance available for people age 65 and older and under age 65 with certain disabilities. Learn more about Medicare basics: 
• Medicare options 
• Differences between Medicare A,B,C, and D
• Whether you qualify to get your Part B Premium paid for by Medicare
• Taking part in Medicare Part B while still working
• How Missouri Rx Plan works

Special Needs Planning
DATE: October 9, 2018
TIME: 6:30 - 8:00 PM
LOCATION: FHSD Administration Building Board Room,  4545 Central School Road
COST: $5.00 per participant

Secure your family’s future and plan for the lifelong needs of family members with disabilities. This session will cover:
• How to provide the means to give your family member a quality of life beyond what government benefits provide
• Ensuring you do not have to intentionally disinherit your loved one
• Creating a set of legally binding instructions as to who takes care of your loved one after you are gone


Beginning Sign Language
DATES: October 11, 25/ November 1, 8, 15, 29/ December 6, 13
TIME: 6:30 - 7:30 PM
LOCATION: Saeger Middle School Library, 5201 Highway N, Cottleville, MO 63304
COST: $40.00

This class will explore basic, everyday signs. Participants will learn signs for a variety of topics including the alphabet and commonly used words and phrases. Participants will have the opportunity to practice both expressive and receptive sign language skills throughout the course. The course will also briefly touch on some of the reasons why we would want/need to learn to sign, some general tips and guidelines relating to disability sensitivity and etiquette, and resources for ongoing learning/sign language instruction.

Retirement Planning
DATE: March 7, 2019
TIME: 6:30 - 8:00 PM
LOCATION: FHSD Administration Building Board Room, 4545 Central School Road
COST: $5.00 per participant

Achieving the dream of a secure, comfortable retirement is much easier when you manage your finances and plan well.  In this class, participants will learn:
• Essentials of financial retirement planning
• The purpose of your money (e.g. liquid dollars, income planning, savings/investment, legacy methods)
• How to prevent outliving your money
• How to protect your life savings from investment mistakes

To cancel a class registration, contact communications@fhsdschools.org. Refunds will only be granted if requested within 5 days from the date of the first class. All registration cancellations are subject to a $2.50 refund fee.
