Calvary Temple Community Closet has clothing for infants through adults at $5 a bag or free to those who have a referral form. Parents can obtain clothing every thirty days, for each child. Adult Literacy

St. Charles Community College (SCC) coordinates a four-county program (St. Charles, Warren, Lincoln, and Pike) to teach basic reading, math, and writing skills, to prepare people to take the GED Tests and to assist non-native speakers in gaining English proficiency.  Free day and evening classes are available. SCC's website holds more details about their Literacy Education program.


Educating Homeless Children

The McKinney-Vento Act, part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, guarantees homeless children and youth an education equal to what they would receive if not homeless.

Safe Place

Safe Place logoAll QuikTrip gas stations are SAFE PLACES – all a child needs to do is go into a QuikTrip and tell one of the staff that they need a safe haven; they are trained to immediately call YIN (Youth In Need); YIN will send someone to pick them up and transport them to their emergency shelter.  Also, all YMCAs and police stations are SAFE PLACES.
