FAQs about Citizens Roundtable
Will I have an opportunity to speak to the Board and Administration at Citizens Roundtable events?
Citizens Roundtable events are focused on problem solving around a particular topic. There will not be an open forum to address the full Board and Administration, but each small group will have an opportunity to share their thoughts during the event.
I can only come for part of the event; should I still sign up?
Most Roundtable events last approximately two hours. Since the discussion and work at the roundtables requires an understanding of the topic at hand, it would be difficult to miss the presentation and be able to contribute fully to the conversation. For this reason, we recommend that only participants who can attend the full event sign up.
Are Citizens Roundtables child-friendly?
Childcare will not be provided. The goal is to allow patrons an opportunity to engage around District issues.
Will food or refreshments be served?
Water and small snacks will be available but it is recommended that participants eat dinner before the event.
Can I sign up more than one person?
Each participant should complete a registration form. If you’d like to register another person, please submit a separate registration form in their name. Please also remember that tables will be assigned upon arrival and you and your partner will likely be placed in different groups. This helps ensure a variety of perspectives are considered at each table.
Who can I contact with questions?
Send questions about this event to communications@fhsdschools.org and someone will get back with you as soon as possible.
Citizens In Our Schools
The Citizens In Our Schools program offers an immersive, experiential journey that gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at all aspects of school district operations and helps them become the ultimate informed citizens. Over a nine-month period (September through May), participants will convene for a full-day program on the first Wednesday of each month.
The program begins with an interactive bus tour to all 23 school campuses so that participants have an understanding of the vast geographical area that makes up the Francis Howell School District. During the tour, participants will get to know their cohort and learn little-known facts about the District and its schools. Subsequent sessions build on one another, providing a comprehensive understanding of the resources, people and planning it takes to operate one of the top school districts in the state.
Family Learning Series
The Francis Howell Family Learning Series is designed to engage top experts, our parent community and school personnel in topics that will support our families and schools in preparing our students for a successful future. The Series provides a proactive approach in assisting families with information that can help them support their children. The Family Learning Series is free to attend, but we ask that you RSVP so we can accommodate all attendees.

Golden Athletics Pass
The Golden Athletics Pass provides free admission to home athletic contests in the Francis Howell School District for residents age 55 and older. If you live within the District boundaries and meet the age requirement you are automatically eligible for a Golden Athletics Pass. As a courtesy, your spouse is entitled to a pass regardless of his/her age. Please note that the Golden Athletics Pass is not transferable and cannot be used by anyone other than the designated owner. Golden Athletics Passes may not be used for any GAC Conferences (state playoff competitions) or district tournaments. It is always best to check with the school to ensure that the passes will be accepted for a specific event.
Golden Athletics Passes can be picked up during regular business hours from the Francis Howell School District administration building located at 801 Corporate Centre Drive in O’Fallon. You may be asked to present a valid I.D. showing that you are at least 55 years of age.
If you have questions about this program, contact the Communications Department office at 636-851-4000. We look forward to seeing you at all of our District events!
Senior PALS
The Francis Howell School District is engaging our older residents through the Senior PALS (Patrons Assisting and Lending Support) initiative. Senior PALS are invited to spend time in our schools, learn more about FHSD, enjoy meals and student performances, and share valuable input with administrators and school board members. Senior PALS events are open to any FHSD resident age 55 and older. Thanks to the generosity and support of Sodexo, FHSD’s food service provider, there is no cost to attend the Senior PALS events. However, reservations are required so that we can accommodate all guests. To RSVP, please call 636-851-4602 by the Friday before the event.

Youth Spectator Guidelines
We welcome individuals of all ages to attend District sporting events and activities. Please be aware that all students and children currently enrolled in the eighth grade and younger must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult to be admitted to or remain at the event.
Youth spectators as described above will not be admitted to the stadium without a designated adult. Any youth spectators without a designated adult will be held outside the stadium until a parent/guardian comes to pick them up or accompany them into the game.
Accompanying adults are asked to maintain active supervision of all youth spectators for which they have assumed responsibility for the entire contest. Any youth spectators found to be without adult supervision will be returned to the adult(s) that brought them to the event. If the adult(s) are unable to be found, the student will be escorted from the stadium until a responsible adult arrives to pick them up. There is no re-entry once a spectator leaves an event.
Sportsmanship/Cheering Expectations
For the enjoyment of all, the following expectations for fans, players, and students will be enforced:
- No student seating on the front row of the bleachers. No standing on the floor
- Continuous standing in designated areas only
- No profanity or implied profanity allowed
- No disrespectful chants including personal remarks directed at players and officials
- No singling out players by number or name on posters, signs, or chants
- No disrespectful behaviors to other fans, players, or cheerleaders
- Cheerleaders will not cross over half-court in basketball games
- Sportsmanship Banners will be displayed at all schools and appropriate expectations will be explained during public service announcements
- Cheer for your own team – Not against the other team!
Pre-Game Activities
- Must be school organized and approved
- Must be in a designated area set up by the Administration
- No coolers
- Coaches, sponsors, or administrators must do all cooking unless it is provided by an outside source (vendor, food trucks, etc.)
Dress Code at Outside Events
Since a major part of education-based-athletics is that we are an extension of the classroom, students will not be allowed to attend games without proper attire. Students cannot be shirtless (males) or in sports bras (females) to wear body paint. Face paint is allowed as long as the student’s identity is recognizable.
Graduation
The Francis Howell School District holds graduation ceremonies annually to celebrate the senior class. Graduation ceremonies for the three traditional high schools are typically held the first Saturday in June at the Family Arena in St. Charles.
Specific information about each ceremony, including logistics, safety precautions, ticket dispersal, and arrival times will be communicated by the administrative staff at each high schools. Please contact your student’s high school with any questions.
