The Francis Howell School District kicked off its community engagement program on Wednesday, Sept. 2 with an opening reception for the Citizens In Our Schools Class of ‘27 cohort. Over the course of nine months, 29 citizens will get a behind-the-scenes look at all aspects of school district operations.

In June 2020, voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition S, a $244 million zero-tax-rate-increase bond issue to fund much-needed facility repairs and improvements across the Francis Howell School District. Six years later, a majority of the work is complete, and students and staff alike are reaping the benefits of new learning spaces, enhanced security features and upgraded athletics and arts facilities

High school sports fans in the Francis Howell School District will see changes at the entry gates starting this August, as the district moves to implement standardized bag guidelines for all ticketed high school athletic events.

The Francis Howell School District has named Rod Hamlett — who brings 20 years of education administration experience to the District — as its new Executive Director of Facilities and Operations.

FHSD is partnering with Compass Health to hold a free back-to-school immunization clinic on August 19 at 3 p.m. at Saeger Middle School. This clinic will allow all kindergarten through 12th-grade students in the district to receive routine immunizations

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, all meal payments will be made through Infinite Campus - the same portal students and families already use to view grades, schedules and bus assignments. 

Elementary and middle school students competed in a districtwide spelling be on May 4 at the Francis Howell School District Administration Building while families, staff and supporters watched from the audience.

The Francis Howell School District is advancing several major construction, renovation and capital improvement projects funded by Proposition S as the 2025–2026 school year concludes.
