For instance, Francis Howell Central (FHC) High School dispatched a delegation of a few of their top student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to the MSHSAA Sportsmanship Summit, on June 9, at Jefferson City High School. It was a day of learning more about how to be better leaders on the field of play, and in the community.

 | FHSD Named a Top Workplace for Fifth Consecutive Year Posted on 06/25/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces for the fifth consecutive year. FHSD ranked in the Top Workplace large business category, which is comprised of similarly-sized organizations and featured four school districts.

 | Barnwell SRO Stock Given St. Charles Police Department Life Saving Award Posted on 06/22/2017 For a School Resource Officer (SRO), there is one priority – the safety of students and staff. They observe, and they protect. One observation made by an SRO, Officer Mike Stock at Barnwell Middle, just happened to save someone’s life. To honor him for his heroism, Officer Stock was recently presented with the St. Charles County Police Department Life Saving Award.

 | Chad Lange Earns Advanced Board Certification Posted on 06/19/2017 Francis Howell School District (FHSD) Board of Education Vice President, Chad Lange, recently earned Advanced Board Certification from the Missouri School Board’s Association (MSBA). Lange was presented with the award at the June 15 Board of Education Meeting by MSBA Region 7 President, Kenny Biermann.

 | What Happens in FHSD Over the Summer? Posted on 06/14/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is always a busy place, not just during the school year. There are more than 2,000 employees in the District, and almost 20 percent of them work a 12-month schedule. “The District does not shut down over the summer,” said FHSD Superintendent Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris, “quite the contrary. Educating 18,000 students is a year-round, full-time job. In addition to preparing the high quality education our students deserve for 2017-18, we have also started working on our next five-year strategic plan, and our community will have the opportunity to be part of that process this fall.”

 | FHC Spartan Spring Awards Posted on 06/12/2017 The Francis Howell Central (FHC) High School Spartans know the value of being involved in their school. School involvement, no matter the activity, promotes success for students – both in their activity and in the classroom. Several FHC teams were recently awarded Scholastic Achievement Awards from the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).

.JPG) | FHSD Summer STEM and STEAM Camps Posted on 06/12/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is committed to providing engaging and enriching camp opportunities to students over the summer months. Two of the most popular are the elementary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and middle school STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) camps. Summer school and all camps are fully funded by the state of Missouri, which makes it possible for the District to offer these programs for students at no cost.

 | Storm Damage = New Roofs Posted on 06/09/2017 On May 11, 2016, a severe thunderstorm with large hail caused significant damage throughout the Francis Howell School District. The roofs of 15 different District buildings suffered damage, and in many cases the entire roof structure is in need of repair.

 | Helping a Community R.I.S.E. – FHHS Activities Raises $40,000 and Volunteers 7,000 Hours for Various Charities Posted on 06/07/2017 At Francis Howell High School (FHHS), students and staff adhere to a motto – R.I.S.E., focusing on Respect, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Excellence. Excellence and sportsmanship in games and matches are certainly desired, but what is more important to the FHHS Vikings is how they meet the other two requisites, respect and integrity. During the 2016-17 school year, Howell activities, clubs, and sports were involved in the community through outreach and fundraising efforts to benefit multiple charities. And this year, those facets of the program were truly on the rise.

 | Maddi Leigh of FHHS Wins State Championship in Track Posted on 06/02/2017 On Saturday, May 27, Francis Howell High School (FHHS) senior Maddi Leigh took to the rain-soaked track at the Missouri State High School Track & Field Championships for the last time in her stellar athletic career, a day she and the Viking community will remember. Her All-State medals were already in the double digits, but she came to accomplish one goal – to win a state championship. Through her perseverance and spirit, both hallmarks of her FHHS career, she has excelled on the field and off. That day wasn’t any different, as she took home the state championship in the women’s 1600-meter race.

 | Laraya Griffith of FHN Never Missed Out Posted on 06/01/2017 In case you missed it, Laraya Griffith never missed out. Laraya just graduated from Francis Howell North (FHN) High School, and she never missed a thing. Literally. She had perfect attendance in school, from the first day of kindergarten through the last day of high school. From Becky-David Elementary, to Barnwell Middle School, to FHN, Laraya’s story proves that a little perseverance and motivation can take a person all the way to perfection.
