 | FHSD Holds Tenth Annual Deaf Storyteller Day Posted on 05/25/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and play in a safe environment, including those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Some students were born without the gift of hearing, and some have lost it over time. But all of these students get to live and learn like every other kid, thanks to the support of many great special educators in FHSD. There are days intended specifically for these students, and Deaf Storyteller Day is one such day, one that solicits a vivid reminder of why we’re here.

 | FHC Holds Inaugural Commitment to Our Country Signing Day Posted on 05/19/2017 The schools in the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) honor students who will take the next step in their academic and athletic careers, with each high school hosting their own signing days for those committing to their respective collegiate institutions. In addition to those signing ceremonies, Francis Howell Central (FHC) High School wanted to honor students, who are signing up to join branches of the military and are making a commitment to serve their country. These students will dedicate their time and talents over the next few years keeping our country safe and free.

 | FHN Student Wins RFK Journalism Award for Second Consecutive Year Posted on 05/15/2017 There are a few repeat winners among the annual Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Journalism Award honorees, such as HBO for their documentaries, and The New Yorker for print stories. But one repeat-winner was not a New York Times author, or a documentary auteur. The repeat winner was a student journalist from Francis Howell North (FHN) High School, Anthony Kristensen.

Posted on 05/11/2017 The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that for the second time in the past decade, Francis Howell Middle School (FHMS) has been selected as a National School of Character. Each year, Character.org and its state affiliates select schools and districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character development programs and a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school climate and their communities.

 | Dr. Julie Tiemeyer Named New Fairmount Elementary Assistant Principal Posted on 05/10/2017 The career of Dr. Julie Tiemeyer is one illustrated by innovation. A member of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) since starting her career in education, Dr. Tiemeyer has brought new ideas to every building she has worked in, and continues to be a leading innovator in the District. After accomplishing so much as administrative intern at Fairmount Elementary, Dr. Tiemeyer was an easy choice as the school’s new assistant principal.

 | New FHSD Websites Posted on 05/09/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is proud to announce that the District and school websites will soon have a new and improved look. FHSD has signed a new contract agreement with the current website vendor, SchoolMessenger, to provide a new website template for all 25 District websites, including Vacation Station and the employee intranet. The other good news is that the District was also able to negotiate a lower rate, saving money and improving 25 websites at the same time.

 | Three FHSD Students Named Missouri Scholars 100 Posted on 05/05/2017 Three high school seniors from the Francis Howell School District have been selected for recognition as part of the 2017 Missouri Scholars 100, a program that honors 100 of Missouri’s highest achieving students. James Dohrman and Yuri Takenaka from Francis Howell North, as well as Rachel Stepanek from Francis Howell Central, were among the elite students selected this year. The students were recognized at a ceremony in Columbia, Mo., in April.

 | Two FHSD Students Achieve Perfect ACT Scores Posted on 05/03/2017 The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is proud to announce that two more FHSD students have scored a 36 on the ACT test. Alex Juan from Francis Howell Central (FHC) and Stephanie Monson from Francis Howell North (FHN) are both part of a very select group. Only 0.6% of the almost two million students that take the ACT every year are able to achieve a perfect score.
