 | FHSD Youth in Government Students Take Office Posted on 11/30/2016 The Youth in Government conference is an opportunity for more than 650 students from around the state of Missouri to learn about civic responsibility, all while participating in the democratic process at the state level.  | John Weldon Elementary Hosts First Turkey Luncheon Posted on 11/22/2016 John Weldon Elementary, part of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD), hosted its first-ever Turkey Luncheon, inviting families from the school community to join them in feasting and fellowship. And the level of excitement over this event was only equaled by its attendance, as thousands of people poured in and out of the John Weldon cafeteria.

 | Castlio and FHC Students Take Part in National Teacher Training Video Posted on 11/21/2016 There has to be a better way – that’s what many teachers realize when dealing with challenging behavior from students. Trauma specialists have begun production on a nationally-distributed training video for teachers, recording potential solutions to these issues. Students at two Francis Howell School District (FHSD) schools are getting the opportunity to participate by performing roles in the video. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get some face-time in a video, and also help teachers reach better solutions.

 | FHSD Journalism Students Continue to Make the Cover Posted on 11/18/2016 Several Francis Howell School District (FHSD) students were among the many attendees from around the country at the Journalism Educators Association (JEA)/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Nov. 10-13. Awards were taken home by students, further validating the outstanding publication departments at all three high schools in FHSD.

 | FHC Cheerleading Squad Wins State Championship Posted on 11/11/2016 The Francis Howell Central High School (FHC) Varsity cheerleading squad made history on Saturday, Nov. 5, as they won the 2016 Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championship in the “small-coed” division. This was the first championship in program history, after finishing in the “final four” in two previous seasons.

 | Francis Howell Voters Fail to Approve Proposition Howell Posted on 11/09/2016 On Election Day, November 8, 2016, voters in the Francis Howell School District failed to approve Proposition Howell, a 60-cent operating levy. The increased funding would have allowed the District to maintain high student academic achievement by reducing class sizes, improving safety, increasing technology, restoring tutoring, attracting and retaining high quality teachers, maintaining District facilities and maintaining existing bus transportation. The last time that District voters approved a tax increase was in 2004.

 | CJ Vogt Measures Up for Howell – 40-Year Volunteer Seen at Every Home Game Posted on 11/07/2016 Volunteers make a tremendous impact on the Francis Howell School District, serving in numerous capacities. These selfless community members enhance the overall educational experience for students, as well as supporting teachers and staff. They help volunteer in the classroom and help with the “Great by 8” program. But they also help on the field, as one volunteer, CJ Vogt, has done for the last 40 years.

| Francis Howell Scores 99.3% on Annual Missouri Report Card Posted on 11/07/2016 The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) today released the Annual Performance Report (APR) data for school districts around the state. The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) scored 99.3% on the APR, part of the Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP 5). Now in its fourth year, MSIP 5 is a more rigorous evaluation tool for rating the performance of Missouri school districts. The FHSD score on the APR has improved every year under the new system, and is one of the highest in Missouri.
