FHSD Board Sets Tax Rate

The Francis Howell School District Board of Education approved the 2016-17 tax rate of $5.0185 by a 7-0 vote at the Sept. 15 Board meeting. The 2016-17 tax rate is relatively unchanged compared to the 2015-16 tax rate.

Fiscal year 2016-17 is a non-reassessment year and is not subject to the tax rollback associated with the Hancock Amendment. And although assessed values experienced a 1.5% increase overall, the total assessed valuation for the District is still $44 million less than the assessed value for fiscal year 2009.

The Missouri Department of Revenue administers a real estate tax assistance program, the Missouri Property Tax Credit Claim, which gives credit to certain senior citizens and 100 percent disabled individuals for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent they have paid for the year.
