Sophia Westhues with the FHSD Board of Education

Francis Howell Union junior Sophia Westhues was chosen to represent her school and classmates at the January Board of Education meeting. Sophia has attended FHSD throughout her entire school career, from Fairmount Elementary to Saeger Middle School and then on to FHC before attending FHU.

Her teachers describe Sophia as a happy, easy-going, and hard-working student who will never let the struggles of life take away from the smiles of life. The example for others that she has set in her classroom has been impactful. On any given day at FHU, you will find her either walking the halls greeting staff and students with an infectious smile or in a classroom working hard to meet her goals of graduating on time.

Sophia has strong character traits, a great work ethic, and a personality that will serve her well in her pursuit for a successful career in the medical field. The staff at FHU looks forward to the many opportunities that continue to open up for such a deserving young lady. FHU Principal Rob Gaugh said, "Sophia is just a happy, positive young lady. She has a lot on her plate and is never negative. She takes things in stride and finds a reason to be happy. She laughs a lot and her attitude is a model for others to emulate.”

FHSD is honored to have such an optimistic student representative at our Board meeting and in our community each and every day.
