To recognize the National School Lunch Program and the 30 million children it serves every day, FHSD will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 15-19, 2018. The theme, “Lots 2 Love,” encourages students and school nutrition professionals across the country to share what they love most about school lunch programs.

More than 20,000 nutritious meals are served to FHSD students every day. Eating a healthy school lunch is essential to help students get the most out of their action packed-day.

“School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and less fat and sodium,” said Carl Ventimiglia, Sodexo General Manager. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program and the appealing choices we offer.”

National School Lunch Week emphasizes the nutritionally balanced, healthy meals that are offered in FHSD. All meals follow federal guidelines set forth by the National School Lunch Program, which requires schools to offer fruits and vegetables daily, serve whole grain-rich foods, and limit fat, calories, and sodium in the meals served.
