FHSD Playgrounds and Outdoor Facilities Closed

FHSD has closed all outdoor school facilities during the extended school closure. This means all playgrounds, tracks, fields, and basketball and tennis courts are off-limits. This decision was made in accordance with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and public health officials.

While the District recognizes spending time outside can be a stress reliever during this difficult time, too many people are congregating at District playgrounds and other outdoor facilities. This action is necessary to help maintain social distancing and prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) through contact with potentially contaminated surfaces. Research shows it can live for days on some surfaces, like slides, tunnels, and bridges.

In order for social distancing to work and to reduce the number of new cases or possible exposure, social interactions need to be limited. Families are reminded that if they do go outside, to stay at least six feet away from others.

FHSD appreciates your cooperation as we all work together to keep everyone safe.
