 | Phase I and Phase II Project Lists Posted on 01/31/2020 The FHSD Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) identifies the necessary capital improvements of all District facilities over the next 20+ years. Proposition S is the no tax rate increase bond issue that will fund those capital projects. The Phase I and Phase II project lists indicate how those funds will be allocated across the District. Those lists are available on the Proposition S page of the District website.

 | Life Expectancy of Building Components Posted on 01/31/2020 Major building components must be maintained in order to ensure all District facilities are clean, dry, safe, and secure. The average age of FHSD schools is 30 years, and the two oldest schools in the District, Becky-David and Daniel Boone, are now 58 years old.

 | Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan Posted on 01/31/2020 The FHSD Board of Education commissioned the development of a Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) as a proactive approach to assessing the capital needs of the different campuses and facilities located across the District. The CFMP identified $300 million of capital improvements necessary to be made over the course of the next 20+ years.

 | Fairmount Elementary Takes a Trip to the Library Posted on 01/22/2020 Fairmount Elementary students learned about three important things when they visited the Spencer Road Branch of the St. Charles City-County Library: the building elevator, Mr. Johnathan, and a never-ending supply of books. As part of a new partnership between the library and Fairmount, the kindergarten and first grade Falcons, as well as their families, were invited to participate in a community reading night full of activities, learning, and more.

 | FHSD Board of Education Selects Dr. Nathan Hoven as New Superintendent Posted on 01/16/2020 The Francis Howell School District Board of Education has announced that Dr. Nathan Hoven has been selected as the District’s new superintendent, effective July 1, 2020. Hoven has served as the District’s Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer for the past two years. He will succeed current superintendent, Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris, who has announced her retirement after the current school year.

 | FHC Wind Ensemble Performs at MMEA Conference Posted on 01/16/2020 The FHC Wind Ensemble has been selected by the Missouri Music Educators Association to perform at the annual state conference in January. This is one of the highest honors a Missouri high school band program can receive, similar to winning a state title in a team sport. Out of nearly 100 audition tapes, the Wind Ensemble was selected as one of only five high school concert bands to be represented at the conference.

 | Aria Pelikan, a Top Cookie Boss Posted on 01/14/2020 Aria Pelikan, a student at John Weldon, has earned the title of “Top Cookie Boss.” The determined fifth grader has been the top Girl Scout cookie seller in the St. Louis region for the past two years, and this year, she has a goal of selling an impressive 4,100 boxes of cookies. With charts to track her progress and the networking skills to flourish her business, Aria is well on her way towards that goal.

 | FHC Students Learn the Value in Recycling Posted on 01/06/2020 As human beings, we have a responsibility to take care of our Earth. As Americans and living in one of the highest waste-producing countries in the world, that responsibility is even greater. The students at FHC recently learned the importance of recycling and how it can positively impact our world. The students participated in a project in which they took items that might normally end up in a landfill and found new functions for them.

FHSD Kindergarten emphasizes meeting the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of young children. Readiness skills in language arts, reading, math, music, visual arts, social studies, science, physical education, and health are introduced and taught in a child-centered environment. Children learn to interact and cooperate with one another, and gain self-confidence to be successful learners.
