Happy Interpreter and Paraprofessional Appreciation Day

The Francis Howell School District celebrates our paraprofessionals and interpreters who provide support to our students and staff on a daily basis. To say thank you to these dedicated individuals, FHSD celebrates Paraprofessional and Interpreter Appreciation Day on Tuesday, April 2.

“The paraprofessionals and interpreters in our District are amazing,” said Director of Alternative Learning Dr. Will Vanderpool. “They are on the front line with our students each day, supporting their individual needs, creating strong relationships, and advocating for them to become independent. The school could not function without them and they need to be celebrated as valuable members of our special education teams.”

At full capacity, the District has nine interpreters and 355 paraprofessionals. These individuals fill many roles throughout the District, including:

●  Providing one-on-one tutoring services for those who qualify
●  Assisting teachers with classroom management
●  Providing assistance in computer labs, learning commons, or media center
●  Organizing parent involvement activities
●  Implementing behavior management plans
●  Modifying materials to better assist students
●  Providing translation services for students
●  Providing instructional services under the supervision of a teacher

A special thank you to all of the interpreters and paraprofessionals within the District who go above and beyond every day to make FHSD a special place. Please take a moment to thank a paraprofessional or interpreter for the work they have done for our students, teachers, schools, and community.
