The Francis Howell School District will honor the dedicated service of our Board of Education members during the statewide School Board Recognition Week observed Feb. 10 – 16, 2019. This special week is dedicated to recognizing the important contributions school boards play in the education of our children.

The high level of commitment by each of our board members is what makes us a great community,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris. “They selflessly devote their knowledge, time, and talents as advocates for our students.”

As elected officials, board members dedicate countless hours and do not receive compensation for their efforts. They oversee a multi-million dollar budget, which funds education programs for FHSD’s more than 17,000 students. These volunteer leaders also are responsible for formulating school district policy, approving curricula, maintaining school facilities, and adhering to state and federal education laws. Legal concerns and the complexities of school finance, including budgeting and taxation, require them to spend many hours in board training programs and personal study to enhance their understanding of these issues.

Thank you to the members of the 2018-19 Francis Howell Board of Education for their leadership and dedicated service: Rene Cope, president; Chad Lange, vice-president; Patrick Lane, treasurer; Mike Hoehn, director; Mary Lange, director; Janet Stiglich, director, and Michelle Walker, director.
