COVID-19 Vaccination Moves to Phase 1B – Tier 3

Posted on 03/01/2021

Governor Parson announced last Thursday that all educators and K-12 school personnel (including contract and temporary staff as well as student teachers) will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines in Missouri starting on March 15 when Phase 1B – Tier 3 is activated.

St. Charles County Public Health Director Demetrius Cianci-Chapman approached St. Charles County school superintendents earlier this year to start planning for vaccinating at the schools.

“Our staff will work in conjunction with their staff to hold clinics on Saturdays so as not to disrupt school,” Cianci-Chapman said. “And, we will add additional PODs at businesses and organizations that are critical infrastructure entities outlined in Phase 1B, Tier 3."

About 12,000 teachers and school staff at public and private schools around the county will be eligible for the vaccine. There will be four “PODs” or points of distribution where the vaccines will be administered to anyone who works for private or public school (both educators and school staff) in St. Charles County. The PODs will be at St. Charles West, Wentzville Holt, Francis Howell Central and Fort Zumwalt West high schools.

Individuals qualifying under Phase 1B – Tier 3 should pre-register for the vaccine here. They should also register on the Missouri Vaccine Navigator, if they haven't completed registration elsewhere.

We will notify staff when school vaccination POD dates are set.
