Eight Francis Howell School District (FHSD) students advanced from Semifinalists to earn National Merit Finalist recognition – an honor earned by fewer than 1% of all high school students who enter the program.

The District is honored to announce its 2021 National Merit Finalists:

  • Natalie Althof, Francis Howell High School
  • Justin Caringal, Francis Howell North
  • Sam Chen, Francis Howell Central
  • Rachel Curran, Francis Howell High School
  • Lauren Guth, Francis Howell Central
  • Luke (Jeffrey) Morrison, Francis Howell Central
  • Ella Palutis, Francis Howell High School
  • Ashley Wuennenberg, Francis Howell High School

To become a Finalist, students submitted detailed scholarship applications, which included information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards.

“Becoming a National Merit Finalist is an incredible honor for these students,” said Dr. Nathan Hoven, FHSD superintendent. “We are proud of these academically talented, hardworking individuals who represent our District well.”

National Merit Finalists are eligible to compete for scholarships; scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July.
