The Francis Howell School District Board of Education has approved the selection of Dr. Jessie Altman as the District’s new director of adult learning, effective July 1, 2020. Dr. Altman currently serves as an assistant principal at Francis Howell High School and will replace Dr. Connie Buckman, who has been selected as the District’s new chief academic officer.

Dr. Altman says she has wanted to be an educator for as long as she can remember. She takes pride in her work and shows her commitment to students, staff, and parents on a daily basis. She believes that all students can learn, and it is our job to educate the whole child with an equitable approach. “I am thrilled to be continuing my career in Francis Howell School District in my new role,” said Dr. Altman. “Professional learning is my passion, and I am excited to be working with staff members on growing their learning and leadership and continuing to support the District through the efforts of the Strategic Plan.”

FHSD has been Dr. Altman’s home for fifteen years. She began her career in the District as an English teacher at Francis Howell High School in 2005. In 2016 she was selected as the dean of students at FHHS, and in 2018 became an assistant principal. Dr. Altman has served as a PLC leader and facilitated professional development at both the building and district levels. In 2015, she was voted “Best Teacher” by the Post-Dispatch Suburban Journals.

Dr. Altman holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education-English from Southeast Missouri State University, a master’s degree in school administration from Lindenwood University, and a doctorate in educational administration from Maryville University.
