The Custodial Team strives to provide our District with the cleanest, healthiest, safest, and most enjoyable learning environment using state-of-the-art tools and cleaning methods. Each school site has a daytime lead custodian and custodial team, ensuring continuous coverage throughout the day. The team’s services include:
Clean, disinfect, and care for classrooms, offices, common spaces, and lounges
Prepare school facilities for all rental program usage
Act as major players in FHSD's recycling program by separating recycled items
Assist with the cleaning of interior and exterior glass
Francis Howell School District welcomes the use of its buildings and grounds by community organizations. Applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Landscape maintenance (including tree-trimming, weed control, and exterior pest control)
Irrigation, grounds safety inspection, water resources, and paving
Playground maintenance and repair
Maintaining and irrigating the more than 875 acres, over 26 different athletic fields and playgrounds, and hundreds of native trees, drought-tolerant plants, shrubs, and ornamental grasses, lawns, school summer gardens, and other open vegetation spaces
The Francis Howell School District Maintenance Team is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all District facilities. Maintenance responds to over 5,000 work orders per year, from the District's 29 separate facilities. These sites include over 2.7 million square feet of building space under roof, with miles of plumbing, wiring, flooring, and more.
The purpose of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Team is to:
Provide ventilation, heating, air-conditioning, plumbing, and electrical services throughout the Francis Howell School District in a cost-effective, transparent manner that enhances the educational process
Warehouse Team plans and provides efficient and effective logistical services that will assist in the support for the educational process of the Francis Howell School District. These logistical services include:
Warehousing: Receive, transfer, store, and distribute designated material from other departments or schools. This material includes classroom furniture, frozen/dry food, special education resources, school records, and specialized school equipment such as computers.
Textbooks: Manage the FCS textbook program in compliance with FHSD Academic Department directives. This includes receiving, storing, and delivering textbooks to school sites.
Supply/Mail Services: Run daily inter-District mail services. Provide delivery services for District departments and buildings.
Surplus Program: Operate a surplus of school equipment and materials program that picks up, redistributes, declares, and disposes of surplus.
Renovation Program: Provide planning and assistance to schools/facilities that are undergoing renovations. This assistance includes manpower and material for relocation and storage and return of all school material and equipment during the renovation.
